Mother Of Pearl Opera Glasses Antique Theater Glasses Whiting Davis Gold Mesh Purse
This is a stunning little pair of late 1800's mother of pearl opera glasses or theater glasses that come in a beautiful gold mesh Whiting & Davis purse.
The glasses measure 2 1/8 inches in height when fully extended, and are 3 1/2 inches across the base of the lenses. They have a pretty glimmering beaded tassel attached on one end. They come in a gold tone Whiting & Davis mesh purse that is in wonderful condition. The purse measures approximately 5 inches in height by 5 inches across the base of the bag. The lining is free from rips or tears, and only has one small area that can be seen in our photos that has a light stain. It's near the top right side in our photos. The purse is hallmarked on the frame and has the Whiting & Davis tag inside the lining.
The glasses are also in great condition, with no damage to the lenses, or the beautiful mother of pearl, and they have nice bright gold tone metal, with only ever so slight signs of tarnish. The action is very nice and smooth, and the viewing is clear. They appear to be 3X's power for better viewing than most of these glasses. There are no visible hallmarks as to the maker.
