1880's German Silver Card Case Victorian Business Card Case Dance Card Holder Wristlet Purse Rare
This is a stunning and very ornate circa 1880's Victorian dance purse or ladies card case with a lovely engine turned floral design. Perfect for your business or credit cards.
It appears to be of German origin, from the style of the design; engraved with pinstripes and floral engraving on the front, and a small castle on the back. All the edges are smooth. It has a nice heavy chain handle.
It has a centrally located cartouche on the front, that is very lightly engraved with the initials "EHK" in script. A jeweler could easily buff out the initials, if the new owner decided to have their own initials engraved.
The piece opens on the side, and has a hinged closure. No hallmarks were found on this case. The metal content appears to be German silver, but it could be nickel silver, with a very slight golden look to the silver, possibly a very faint gold wash.
It's in very lovely condition, but does have some very minor pencil point dings. We've added a pretty dusty rose pouch for storage or gifting.
The piece measures approximately 3 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches, with the chain handle adding an additional 3 1/2 inches. It fits today's standard size business cards, and would make a great ladies business card holder.
