LeMaire Fi Opera Glasses 1800s Paris Mother Of Pearl Theater Glasses MOP Binoculars Mint Condition
Here's an extremely rare and stunning pair of LeMaire Fi Paris late 1800's opera glasses. They're LeMaire's top of the line mother of pearl theater glasses in near mint condition.
They measure 2 1/4 inches in height when closed and a bit over 3 inches high when fully extended, and are 4 inches across the base of the lenses. The screw in handle is approximately 5 inches in length, and extends to an approximate 8 inch length.
They are in perfect working condition, with no damage to the optics, or to the gorgeous white mother of pearl. They operate with a super smooth action from either the central flywheel, or from the flywheel on the removable retracting handle. Not only do they have mother of pearl on the barrels, but the shafts also have mother of pearl. Even the eye pieces have a lovely faceted mother of pearl surround. They also have beaded accents which make them sparkle even more. The brass is exceptionally shiny. The only issue we could find is some slight tarnish to the ribbed adjustable focusing flywheel that is on the handle.
They are hallmarked on the eye pieces with "LeMaire Fi Paris", as well as the jewelers hallmark of "The King Optical Company, Spokane, Washington". The famous bee hallmark is also on the underside of the central bridge, as well as multiple patent numbers and dates of Nov. 28th 1882 to May 7th 1895.
An absolutely fabulous pair of perfectly working opera glasses to add to your vignette, or for use at the theater or opera. They come in a handmade heavy upholstery fabric cloth pouch. The pouch has three pockets inside to hold the glasses and handle separately, as well as any other small items you may want to carry with you; such as cash, credit cards, cell phone, etc.
