1900s Silver Compact Wristlet Purse Enamel Powder Rouge Lipstick Mirror Dance Purse
This is a gorgeous early 1900's floral enamel Victorian compact wristlet dance purse with powder, rouge, lipstick and mirror.
It has beautiful details, and no damage to the black and white hand painted enamel floral design, or to the central hand painted rose black enamel medallion.
The latch is in excellent working condition. It opens to a slightly hazed glass silver framed mirror, powder compartment, rouge compartment, lipstick case, as well as the two original powder puffs. There is only a slight amount of the red lipstick and powder remaining, but most of the original rouge is still present.
There is also a compartment behind the mirror for cash or other personal essentials. The purse measures approximately 3 inches in length by 2 inches in width, and is about 3/4 of an inch in thickness.
This piece is not hallmarked, but appears very much like many D.F. Briggs pieces we have had over the years.
It has a woven black rope style handle, with an adjustable slider. The silver tone metal has wonderfully ornate detailing on the lid and edges of the piece, and the back has a intricate linear engine turned design pattern.
There are no dents, dings, rust or corrosion, just ever so slight tarnish, that could be polished to shine. We choose to not alter the patina by over polishing, as many collectors love the aged patina that these charming antiques have.
This is such a wonderfully unique compact purse; and would be a lovely addition to any purse or compact collection.
