1920s Karess Woodworth Gift Set Powder Box & Silver Guilloche Compact Complete With 2 Glossy Advertisement Photos

$ 189.99

This is a very unique 1920's Karess Woodworth face powder box gift set.  It comes complete with the silver guilloche and blue enamel trim Karess Woodworth powder and mirror compact, as well as the loose face powder box in the original gift box. It also includes two glossy advertisement photos.

The outside of the gift box lid shows some wear and staining, as can be viewed, but the interior is in great shape with the original empty face powder box, that also shows some fading and light age wear, and the original silver powder compact with the original full solid powder plate and original blue powder puff.  The compact is in fabulous condition, with some light wear to the bottom as well as the sticker residue that can also be viewed in our photo.  The stunning and shiny piece has a pretty greek key blue enamel trim around the top edges of the lid. The glass mirror is in wonderful reflective condition.  The hinges and closure work perfectly, and the piece is approximately 2 inches in diameter and 3/8 inches in depth.  It's hallmarked "Karess Woodworth" on the frame under the mirror.  The gift box measures approximately 6 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches.  Inside you will find two different heavy glossy stock photos.  One is a sepia tone of a store window display for their Karess Vanity line, and the other is an Advertisement for the Viegay, Karess and Fiancée face powder line by C.B. Woodworth. A wonderful and unique set to gift or add to your own collection.

Guilloche is a French decorative engraving technique in which a very precise intricate repetitive pattern or design is mechanically engraved into a metal material with fine detail. Specifically, it involves a technique of engine turning, called guilloche in French after the French engineer “Guillot”, who invented a machine “that could scratch fine patterns and designs on metallic surfaces”.

Don't miss our very large selection of vintage and antique compacts and powder boxes.  We have one of the largest selections on the internet.
