1910s Steel Cut Bead Purse Antique Chatelaine Black Beaded Bag Art Nouveau Silver Tennis Racket Frame
Here's a fantastic and unique antique circa 1910 black steel cut beaded chatelaine purse. It has a lovely tennis racket and floral Art Nouveau designed frame, and is in excellent condition. This piece has a chatelaine chain that could be attached to a woman's sash or belt.
The lovely frame is silver; possibly a sterling silver exterior frame that is unmarked. It has a push button on the top of the bag for opening, and opens to a beige suede interior that is in very good condition, with no holes or major stains. The black steel cut beads and fringe are in very good condition. Only a couple of tiny areas have a few missing beads. It's not at all noticeable unless under very close inspection of the bag.
It measures approximately 8 inches in length including the clasp and fringe, and is approximately 5 inches across the body of the bag. The chatelaine adds an additional 3 1/2 inch drop from the top of the purse.
This purse is quite unique with it's tennis racket theme compared to most of the other steel cut bags we've seen. It would make an exceptional addition to any antique purse collection. A great gift idea for that special lady.
