Gold French Compact Mother Of Pearl Blue Stones 1800s Antique Powder Rouge Compact RARE
This is a gorgeous and very rare late 1800's French antique gold tone powder and rouge compact with a lovely central mother of pearl medallion surrounded by 12 blue stones.
The lid has an extremely ornate design that is really lovely with green enameling.
It opens to a rope style framed beveled mirror that is in very good condition; with no chips or cracks or damage. Lift the mirror to find a compartment underneath with a place for a rouge powder plate, as well as a lipstick case.
It comes with a pretty handmade unused silk powder puff, with a blue flower, as well as a smaller handmade silk rouge puff.
The hinges and clasps work well; and the outside edges of the piece have a beautiful repousse pattern. There is only some very slight age related wear to this charming compact; no serious damage that we found.
It measures approximately 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The piece is approximately 1 inch in thickness.
