1910's Silver Compact Purse Sapphire Clasp Antique Dance Purse Rare
This is a rare and lovely vintage silver plated and sapphire rectangular powder compact purse or dance purse from the early 1910's.
It has a relatively long and delicate linked gold washed chain attached at both ends so that you could carry this on your wrist.
Both the front and back feature a lovely engine-turned design consisting of vertical, decorative lines, as well as a raised blank cartouche for you to engrave your initials.
There are two small cobalt blue sapphire stones that are used to open each of the powder and rouge compartments that are inside the purse.
It opens to a clean and clear large framed original mirror, as well as the two compartments; and has a gold washed interior. The compartments are empty and could be used for whatever you like.
The mirror is very clear and totally useable, though it does have some slight darkening around the edges.
This compact purse is in great condition with only very slight signs of age or wear; and appears as though it was not used much. Please enlarge photos by clicking on them twice to see all the detail.
It measures 3 inches in length, not including the chain, and is 2 1/8 inches in width. The chain adds an additional 6 inches in length from the top of the purse.
All hinges and closures work perfectly; and this is a beautiful vintage piece to add to any vanity or vintage compact collection.
