Karess Woodworth Guilloche Compact Purse Cobalt Blue Enamel Rare
Here is an extremely rare and lovely antique Karess Woodworth compact in nickel silver with a beautiful cobalt blue enamel guilloche lid. It's in fabulous condition and measures 2 1/2 inches in length by 1 3/4 inches in width.
It is hallmarked on the interior rouge compartment lid "KARESS WOODWORTH NEW YORK PARIS", as well as a patent number on the interior powder plate holder, that dates this piece to the early 1900's.
The compact has perfect enameling, with no damage and opens to a clear mirror inside the lid; as well as a powder compartment and a covered rouge compartment. When the rouge compartment lid is lifted an empty lipstick case can be pulled out the of the right hand side.
The lower outside edge of the case has a wonderful repousse design all the way around the case, and the same guilloche pattern that is on the lid under the blue enamel is duplicated in the nickel silver on the back of the compact.
