1910s Nickel Silver Compact Purse Turquoise Clasps Dance Purse Excellent Condition
A rare and beautiful vintage nickel silver and turquoise clasps rectangular powder compact purse or dance purse from the early 1910's; in excellent condition.
It has a relatively long and delicate linked silver nickel chain attached at both ends so that you could carry this on your wrist.
Both the front and back feature a lovely engine-turned design consisting of vertical, decorative lines, as well as a slightly raised blank cartouche for you to engrave your initials.
There are two small turquoise stones that are used to open each of the powder and rouge compartments that are inside the purse.
It opens to a clean and clear large framed original mirror, as well as the two clean compartments.
It comes complete with two handmade powder puffs that are unused.
The mirror is very clear and useable, though it does have some barely noticeable spots.
This compact purse is in great condition with only very slight signs of age or wear; and appears as though it was not used. Please enlarge photos by clicking on them twice to see all the detail.
The hinge and closure are in good working condition; and this is a beautiful vintage piece to add to any vanity or vintage compact collection.
This piece is hallmarked "Nickel Silver, E.C. Co.". Which was the early 1900's Evans Case Co. They used that hallmark from approximately 1900 to 1907. Which helps to date this piece to the early 1900's.
The only issue to report is the one rouge compartment appears to not completely latch, but it does not impact the look or beauty of this wonderful antique treasure.
