Vintage Sterling Silver Compact Elgin American Dance Purse Edwardian
This rare sterling silver Elgin American powder compact with wristlet chain is in excellent condition. The gorgeous design on the on the lid appears like lace on silver in a beautiful Edwardian style design.
It has a center cartouche on the lid that is engraved with the initials "SCL".
This compact measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter, and is in fantastic condition, with only minor signs of any wear. No dents, dings, rust or corrosion.
It is hallmarked on the edge of the rim with "Elgin AM. Mfg. Co. STERLING SILVER".
The piece also has another hallmark on the inside bottom of the powder compartment "2191361".
The interior has a gold wash finish, and is in clean condition. The mirror is also in excellent condition with no damage.
The hinge and closure work perfectly, and the mirror is slightly hazy, but in useable condition. It also has a lovely repousse design that surrounds the outside edges.
